TOLUWANIMI OLUWAFUNMILAYO OBIWOLE is a Nigerian-born, Colorado-raised poet. She is currently an undergrad studying Ethnic Studies at CU Boulder. She was a member of the 2013-2014 Minor Disturbance youth poetry team as well as a Brave New Voices international poetry festival champion and finalist. In 2015 she was announced Denver’s inaugural Youth Poet Laureate. For the 2015 and 2016 slam season she was a member of SLAM NUBA, and is co-director of the Slam Nuba organization. She was a TEDx Mile High speaker and is the author of two chapbooks: OMI EBI MI, and How to Become a Lightning Storm. She writes, hoping to cultivate her own black girl magic while creating space and a platform for people who have yet to realize that their voices are necessary. Award-winning poet and author SUZI Q. SMITH lives with her brilliant daughter in Denver, Colorado. In addition to working as a teaching artist in Denver, Suzi Q. has toured the United States for over a decade. Among the most well-known performing poets in the country, she has shared stages with Nikki Giovanni, Talib Kweli, the late Gil Scott Heron, and many more over the years. Her work has appeared in Union Station Magazine, Suspect Press, Muzzle Magazine, Malpais Review, Peralta Press, and more. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Poetry Slam, Inc. and as a Partner Artist with Youth On Record, and an Advisor to Denver Minor Disturbance Youth Poetry Slam.

Since 1991 poet, fiction writer, actor & percussionist SETH has made it his mission to stretch the boundaries of how audiences experience poetry. He was a founding member of the Poetry Performance troupe Open Rangers and the critically-acclaimed Performance Art trio Jafrika His stage productions & CDs have won several Best of Denver from Westword. Currently, SETH heads Art Compost & the Word Mechanics, a poetic-musical improvisational ensemble performing every Sunday night at the Mercury Café. His poetic memoir A Black Odyssey is a diverse, vibrant collection of poems using Homer’s Odyssey as an allegorical scaffolding for his own experiences as a Black poet in contemporary America. DAVID WELPER is a Pushcart nominee with an MA from Wayne State University in Detroit. His book, Lookbaby, was reviewed by Red Paint Hill. Some of his poems appear in sPARKLE & bLINK, Oakland Review, Red Light Lit, Denver Poetry Map and other publications. He’s been a featured reader in NYC, Detroit, and the Bay Area. He occasionally writes book reviews and recently founded the lit zine, Buddy, which publishes creative writing about mental health issues. As a side-venture, he’s got a collection of his T-shirts inspired by gritty urban images at http://www.dDoubleUurbanartWear.com. He works as a psychiatric nurse in the Bay Area.
